Friends, fans, and fins of FPD: It’s ba-a-ck…. Back by newfound popular demand, and by
decree of The Supreme Executive Committee, a (one-time?!) revival of Fish Products Day is happening on
December 11, 2024, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. - so mark your calendars, and start
planning what outlandish fish-product-themed dish you can concoct, as well as
any other eclectic/eccentric things you might want to bring and/or do to duly
and swimmingly celebrate FPD. Here’s a blast from FPD 2005, as documented
in the FPD Annals (a.k.a. The Dead Sea Scrolls, Part II): Kevin
Heindselman likewise displays a flair for the creative, as he brings in a
one-gallon aquarium filled with blue Jell-O, with several gummy sharks
swimming around in the “water”, and with jelly beans lining the bottom as
rocks. (It is pointed out that this is actually the second time
that Jell-O has been prominently featured in an FPD product/decoration;

Products Day started as a protest movement.
Starting in 2009, however, a protest movement to the FPD protest
movement was begun: Something called
“Good Products Day.” Odd, this new
generation choosing conventional over original? I guess that’s why we have so many remakes
of old songs and movies as America’s creative life seems to be confined to
the last century. Here’s
the “Good Products Day” announcement!

OFFICIAL FISH PRODUCTS DAY TRAVELING
TROPHIES Five awards for Fish Products Day participants to
"angle" for at the Twenty-Second Annual Fish
Products Day celebration on Friday, December 11, 2009 (starting at about 7
a.m.): 1.) The "Sardines in
Louisiana Hot Sauce" Award for Most Fit-to-Eat Fish Product. By this
award, we are encouraging excellence in fish product preparation. 2.) The Agreda/Lichtenstein
Goldfish Award for Most Memorable Performance. The reasons why someone
might win this award are as far-flung as your imagination will take you. 3.) The Steve Janulis Fish Paste
Award for Best Performance by a Newcomer. This award is designed to
encourage FPD participation by our newer employees - not limited to
first-year employees, necessarily, but aimed more at high-quality FPD
participation early in one's career. 4.) The Bass-o-Matic Award for
Most Disgusting, Most Unique, or Most Uniquely Disgusting Fish Product.
'Nuff said. 5.) The "Wild-Card"
Award. This award is designed to recognize FPD participation which is
deserving of recognition but which doesn’t quite fit into any of the other
award categories. NOTICE:

supporter and celebrator, woke up to his second FPD in a row in southern California this morning, sadly separated from
the beloved fish-product goodies that he knew would be awaiting those who
were lucky enough to be attending the main FPD celebration back in
Kingsport. But lo and behold, when he walked into the Fluor offices in From the Mailbag, December 2008: From

venture into any truly "gross" waters this year, but I think we

comments! 2011 Mailbag I think we’re witnessing a glorious
renaissance for fish eaters through the Tri-Cities. --Steve Miller And throughout the world! --Tim (Noel) Nolen We need an in-plant seafood
restaurant. We could name it “The Fish
Kill Bar and Grill.” --Jeff Smith Ryan Schad—A few words for FPD 2010 Our NY
resolution in 2011 is to add a few new core members. Right now we have 5 die hards and about 5
sometimers. I want 40% more die harders! :-) Dail Blalock’s Sentiments 2010 Oh the
swamp. A fitting name and setting, tis true. However, part of the
panache of FPD was the way that it effectively reduced productivity near CR
7072 by distracting people by at least four of the five senses - sight,
sound, taste, and most definitely smell. If you are
in the swamp, does it open the opportunities to other water loving creatures
like gator? A slippery slope…I would not go there. Jeff Smith’s Reply 2010 Actually,
Dail, we have had gator at FPD, at least once. Well, okay, it was only
a very small vacuum pack of inexpensive “smoked gator bits”, I think it was
called, which I found somewhere, and so not very many people got to partake
of it. But really, anything goes at FPD. In fact, I’ve been sort
of disappointed that we haven’t yet, to my knowledge, had turtle (like turtle
soup – couldn’t somebody make us some stinkin’ turtle soup, for crying out
loud?!), nor whale blubber (but I think that’s illegal if you’re not an
Eskimo or something?), nor frog legs. But we have had octopus, baby
eels, dried squid…. ___________________ Christmas Engineering Christmas
Engineering is a tradition at my house. One Christmas several years ago I put
a wreath on the front of my car. Wanting to add a touch of
Christmas Engineering, I cut a strand of lights down to a number of bulbs
suitable for 12V DC and put lights on my wreath that lit up while I was
driving. One morning it snowed, and I spun my car around in the ditch on
the way to work, getting mud all over the front of the car and my wreath.
When I got to work, my Best Friend said it looked like I crashed right through
