Sullivan South Rebel Rousers Meeting

February 11, 2003

Present: Yvonne Fuchs, Tom LaGuardia, Ryan Bergstrom, Jorge Fuchs, Brad Willingham, Katrina Willingham, Leighton Wood, Shirley Austin, Holly Griffith, Leah Bishop, Diane Bishop, Susie Jones, Judy Richards, Alan Dunn, Lisa Dunn, Tim Nolen

Welcome by Yvonne Fuchs.

Holly Griffith read Treasures report. No questions or changes made.

Brad Willingham gave report from South High Schools Athletic Booster club. Request for funds for next year will need to be submitted this month. Forms will be sent to coaches in the next few weeks. At this time new Goals are our most needed item. They will be expensive so that might be an item the Booster club can help us with. Brad also reported that some of our soccer parents had joined South’s’ Booster

Club this year and we need to encourage more to join. He also encouraged parents to join the Athletic Booster Club as a board member as they are losing several of their members this year and will need to replace them for next year.

Katrina Willingham passed out minutes from our last meeting. No changes were made, and the minutes were submitted as read.

Judy Richards volunteered to be in charge of planning end of season banquet.

Diane Bishop volunteered to be membership chairman.

Ryan Bergstrom reported that the boy’s team had their first of five lectures today after practice on health care and nutrition.

Tom LaGuardia reported that our scoreboard that was donated from Coke has been delivered to the school and we are waiting for the county workers to install it for us. Coke also donated squirt bottles, towels, and a large water jug.

12 team members came out to the field yesterday to help spread sand on the field. This was needed for drainage.

Amber Sharman and Erin Schmidt, two members of the girl’s team, have agreed to be the boys’ team managers this season. They have volunteered to tape the games this season.

Tom attended the NSAA coaching school in Florida recently. There were several coaches from our area.

Yvonne Fuchs commented that we would need to raise $300 to fund the team video for the boy’s season.

Red and White game will be Feb. 22 at 2pm with Jersey Mikes catering a meal after the game. We will sale tickets as a fundraiser. Shirley Austin and Holly Griffith will sale tickets at school during lunch several days. Katrina Willingham will put game and ticket information on school announcements. We have been given permission to use the school cafeteria to eat our post game meal.

There are numerous volunteer jobs that need to be filled. Yvonne will email this list to all parents.

Yvonne and Shirley Austin met with concession stand coordinators for the girl’s softball team. They are willing to work together to work out a system to share the concession stand.

Mr. Starnes has been extremely supportive of our team and parents are encouraged to thank him in person or by sending a card.

Tom LaGuardia will write the School Board to ask permission to play a game during school. Selling tickets and concessions would be a good fundraiser for us. He has found out from other school programs that this has been very lucrative for them.

Tim Nolen volunteered to set up web site for our soccer program.

Meeting adjourned.

Thanks to everyone that took time out of their busy lives to attend the booster club meeting tonight.

Also, a really big thank you to Tim Nolen who will now be taking care of our website for the boy's season - we really appreciate him stepping forward.  Tim is the father of Sam Nolen, an incoming freshman to the soccer team.
